Once you open Hoogterp Tribe you see the site but you are not logged in. At this point, you can read posts and read comments. To add a comment, you’ll have to login. and to login, you have to register.
If you Register, you’ll be able to LogIn. This has advantages. Just click Register, make up a username and enter a real email address. Within a minute or two, WordPress emails you an automatically generated password. You use this username and password to LogIn. Logging in gives you access to profile and other information.
- You will see your username in the upper left of the page. Clicking on it gives you access to the Profile and Dashboard and Logout.
- You can change the password in the Profile. This lets you have some possibility of remembering it next time.
- You can set a name for displaying, in case your username is something like “windblaster78” or “hoogterp54” so others will know you made a comment.
- You can change your email if necessary.
- You can add a touch of personal bio information. Remember this is the web so don’t give us too much information.
- You can post comments. We had to turn off anonymous posting — there were dozens of spam posts per day and none of us needs that kind of stuff.
There is also a Dashboard available after login. This gives a bit of information about WordPress in case you want it. If Dan has made you an author, you will enter posts through the Dashboard. I am doing that as I type. this won’t have pictures, because I haven’t figured out how to do that yet.
Occasionally when you click Logout or Update Profile, the system “Cannot make the connection”. Don’t worry about it. any updates, such as password changes have taken place. Just connect to Hoogterp.com again.
Comment as needed. We’ll update this as we get new info or discoveries.
